About Well & Trees: a company that builds water wells, plants trees, and proves it
Well & Trees has one goal: to help as many people as possible get access to clean drinking water.
Well & Trees was created by Well Solidarity, a French company that has already helped more than 20,000 customers build wells for communities in need. Building on this experience, we are now bringing our mission to English-speaking countries, starting with the United Kingdom and the United States.
Our actions at Well & Trees focus primarily on well construction projects, enabling access to water for those most in need. Thanks to our customers, who fund every well-drilling project, we can provide drinking water to people who lack it, help them lead healthy lives, and restore their hope.
Well & Trees was created by Well Solidarity, the French company that has built more than 9,000 wells since 2023. If you are checking whether we are genuine, read Is Well & Trees legit?, then look at the photos and videos of our wells.
A company, not a charity
People ask us this all the time, so let’s say it plainly: Well & Trees is a business. We chose this model on purpose, and we have nothing to hide about it. Here is how it works, why we chose it, and the track record that backs it.
Yes, part of the price is our margin. It is what makes steps 2 to 4 reliable: a salaried team, video crews on site, customer care that answers you, and the advertising that finds the next customer. No appeals, no grants, no galas. If we build well, we grow. If we don’t, we close. That is our accountability.
We take a margin. We say so.
Every price includes our margin, and we would rather tell you than let you guess. It pays full-time people instead of goodwill, and it is the only reason we can promise a timeline and a proof for each order.
We create a real local economy.
A well is not a handout, it is a contract. Drillers, masons, pump suppliers and drivers are paid for their work, order after order. Skills, equipment and income stay in the village long after the pump is installed.
We only do two things.
Wells and trees. No emergency appeals, no dozen programmes. Specialisation is how we know our costs to the pound, keep the same local teams, and give you one price, one timeline and one proof.
Because we are a company, your order is a purchase, not a donation: no Gift Aid, no tax receipt. In return you get a product with a price, a timeline and a proof. We respect the charities that do this work; we simply chose a different way to do it.
Well & Trees is the English-speaking arm of Well Solidarity, launched in France in 2023 on exactly this model. Three numbers say it all:

The Well & Trees Team
The Well & Trees team is a small, full-time team that wants to do measurable good. It has grown year after year, and we want to be the name people trust when they fund a well. We love what we do: using modern digital tools to put clean water in villages that need it.
Many projects are under way: field trips, collaborations with public figures and partner organisations, and more. Our philosophy is simple: keep improving, learn from our mistakes, give our customers the best service and build the best wells for our brothers and sisters in need.
We are passionate about our mission and determined to continue making a positive impact through Well & Trees. Each team member has their own speciality and brings it to Well & Trees.

At Well & Trees, we value transparency. To illustrate this, here’s how the money you pay is allocated, using the example of building a well:
- 56% is used to purchase materials from local suppliers, cover bank fees, and money transfer costs necessary to safely send funds internationally.
- 17% is allocated to our awareness campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Google, etc., to reach as many people as possible and increase the impact of our projects.
- 13% pays the local workers who construct the wells on-site.
- 8% pays our French team, who coordinate and follow up the projects and answer your emails.
- 6% is set aside for development and field trips (flights, accommodation, logistics).
